Hi! I’m Kelsey
I’m the counselor behind Kindred Ground Counseling.
I believe every person is inherently worthy and deserves a space where they are listened to. I know therapy can feel intimidating or uncomfortable for a lot of young people, so I focus on building a genuine connection first.
I like to meet my clients exactly where they’re at, walking alongside them in a way that’s laid-back, but purposeful.
My Approach
My style is person-centered and strength-based. Essentially, I’m here to provide a safe spot for emerging teens and teens to show up fully as themselves.
The Balance: I provide a steady blend of encouragement and challenge, honoring your teen’s unique gifts while gently pushing them toward meaningful growth.
Real-World Tools: We will collaborate to build a practical toolkit tailored to their personality.
The Team: I believe therapy is most effective when we partner with an individuals support system
Specialization
While I support adolescents and young people through a wide range of challenges I specialize in the following:
Anxiety & Emotional Regulation
Identity Exploration & Social Navigation
Integrated School Support
Common Things We Can Tackle Together
The School Stress Spiral, Navigating Friendships & Social Circles, Anxiety & Big Emotions, Self-Esteem & Identity, Life Transitions, Faith & Value Explorations
A Note on Faith
I have a faith background that I’m happy to bring into our space if that’s meaningful for the client, but there is never any pressure to do so. I’ve worked with plenty of young people where faith is "tricky" or just not their thing.
I welcome people with faith, those without, those who are questioning, or have complex feelings about what it means for them. I welcome everyone exactly as they are—there’s zero pressure to be anything else.
My Background
Getting to know adolescents is truly a joy for me. It’s been my passion since long before it was my career—I spent over 8 years as a youth leader in church and para-church organizations.

About Me as a Real Life Person
I was born in Ohio, grew up in Texas, and have been in Colorado for the last ten years. My partner, James, and I live in Northern Colorado with our son, who was born August 2025, and our Australian cattle dog mutt, Lady.
In my free time I enjoy being outside, gardening, baking (recently joined the sourdough club), biking, working out, camping, fly fishing, reading, hiking and spending time together with my family.
I became a counselor because I believe mental health deserves to be discussed with the same ease as any other part of our lives. Having navigated my own battles with anxiety and depression as a teenager and adult, I know how loud those thoughts can get and how much space they can occupy. I understand the heaviness and exhaustion of trying to push through when you’re running on empty.
My focus is to make therapy feel less like a clinical appointment and more like a genuine place to land by stripping away the clinical stiffness and focusing on authentic connection.
You don’t have to wait for things to fall a part before you reach out for support—we can start right where you are.
